The ten ambitions in our widely-praised Vision 2030 draw clear links between quality of place and quality of life; so making Sandwell’s six towns great locations to live, work and visit underpins our whole strategy. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to play a leading part in delivering this vision.

Service Manager: Housing Management
up to £83k

In this attractively broad role, you’ll provide comprehensive leadership to Sandwell’s housing service, ensuring the highest quality of service delivery and driving long-term performance improvement. It’s a significant task in itself: with over 28,000 homes under management, plus a ten-year, £500m investment and development programme underway, we’re already playing in the big league.

But there’s more. Because we recognise the vital role we play in delivering not only high-quality housing, but also healthy communities and thriving neighbourhoods, we’ve made the pioneering decision to bring factors such as safety & resilience, homelessness, exploitation and modern slavery, money advice, welfare reform and community development under your remit.

We recognise that this means we’re looking for an exceptional person, with an impressive track record across the full range of housing management and landlord functions. Your intellectual curiosity, passion for supporting communities and whole-system perspective will also have led you to acquire extensive additional knowledge and expertise in the social context of placemaking. Commercially sharp, but with an appreciation of the triple bottom line, you’ll embrace the opportunities for locality working emerging from our new Town Plans. And you’ll contribute to embedding a council-wide culture of continuous improvement and customer-focus, so that we’re in the best shape to meet increasing expectations and deliver improved value in a context of continually reducing resources.
