Work Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Hackney Council is looking for a Budget Monitoring Officer with excellent financial management skills to join our Parking and Markets team.

You will work closely with our managers to support the Parking and Markets annual budget cycle. You will ensure budgets are set, monitored and accounts closed within agreed timeframes and with clear audit trails.

Day to day you will oversee all expenditure and income, carrying out trend analysis and reporting meaningful data to senior management, keeping them up to date with financial performance and KPIs. You will use your understanding of our budgets to contribute to the decision making processes in delivering a balanced business scorecard.

You will need to have an analytical approach with the ability to simplify and articulate complex financial information to varied stakeholders. Ideally you will have experience within a financial or accountancy role, be adept at managing budgets and forecasting via robust processes and systems. You should also have the confidence to ensure the service sticks to set budgets.

Although local government experience would give you an advantage, it is not essential. This is an operational role, so it is imperative that you are highly skilled in the use of Excel and be able to use CedAr - Hackney council's financial management system along with an exceptional standard of English both verbal and written.
