We provide an enforcement service which deliver statutory functions to the public, which include; investigating environmental offences linked to the illegal deposit of waste (fly-tipping), dealing with abandoned vehicles, highway obstructions and unauthorised traveller encampments in order to maintain and improve the environmental quality of Wiltshire
About the role
You will be responsible for implementing enforcement action throughout Wiltshire, acting in respect of both the public highway network and other private land under the council's ownership.
You will work in an often-challenging environment, making on the spot judgements of enforcement situations whilst using your expertise to decide on the appropriate course of action
You will need to have excellent proven people skills, have the ability to negotiate and be resilient, but also remain calm in high pressure, challenging situations.
Excellent IT and literacy skills are essential, along with previous experience in enforcement and environmental enforcement issues with a strong working knowledge of legislation.
A sound knowledge of interviewing under caution in line with Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) and investigating criminal offences would be an advantage.
