Applications are invited for the new post of Practice Improvement Officer for Aberdeenshire Child and Family Protection Committee. The post holder will have significant experience and understanding of child protection and what constitutes best practice. Working in a multi-agency environment, a training calendar and bespoke events would be organised in regard to findings of our self-evaluation work in Aberdeenshire, alongside responding to findings of local and national case review findings and recommendations. The ability to develop child protection training sessions linked to identified local practice development as well as recognising, responding to, and keeping up to date with national initiatives and drivers is integral to the post. Links are developed through a multi-agency learning and development forum which will provide support alongside an understanding of the forum member's unique Service needs and perspective. This will be underpinned by other learning and development methods, using a blended approach and opportunities to for the multi-agency workforce. There will be regular one to one sessions and opportunities for personal development. The ability to give clear and informed presentations, alongside building professional relationships is central to the post and the principles of continuous development in the Child Protection Landscape. Undertaking case reviews, articulating the findings and delivering a report with recommendations will be role of the post holder. This will be underpinned and supported by a multi-agency forum.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
