Web and Digital Officer

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is seeking a digital communications professional with a flair for creative social media. Based in brand new offices in Canary Wharf London, this role offers the opportunity to further your career and increase your digital communications experience within a world-leading government department.

The CMA works to make sure competition works in people's favour and businesses treat their customers fairly. In a world where markets are rapidly changing the need to communicate what we do has never been greater. As part of Strategy and Communications, the Web and Digital Team uses digital channels to deliver content that explains our work in clear and engaging ways. We focus on user needs and create and manage content across social media and GOV.UK, the internationally respected UK government website.

As the Web and Digital Officer, you will play an important role in managing the CMA's digital content, advising the organisation on innovative ways of communicating messages, and designing engaging digital content for social media. This will include drafting digital communication plans and regularly monitoring and analysing content to ensure users' needs are met. Please note this role will also involve publishing market-sensitive content out of hours where required.

The successful candidate will offer experience in:

  • Creating and iterating web content to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, including editing and formatting documents.
  • Using content management systems to publish high-quality content in line with business requirements and to strict deadlines.
  • Designing, or drafting for the web, including social media channels.
  • Creating engaging digital communications plans to communicate key messages and announcements effectively.
  • Using data and evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of digital communications.

Equally important will be excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with internal stakeholders to ensure that they use the best digital channels to reach the target audience.
