Team Manager Children in Care Team
We are currently looking for an ambitious and innovative team manager to join and lead our children in care team based in the north of the county. Following our recent Ofsted inspection, we were rated as 'Good' across all areas of children's services, and we are now looking for someone who will help us become 'Outstanding'.
This service is responsible for ensuring that children and young people who are looked after or are care leavers, are provided with placements that best meet their needs and have the best opportunities to succeed in life.
Through our innovative 'No Wrong Door' project, the service works with children and young people on the edge of care to enable them to remain living with their family or within their local community.
About the role
As team manager, you will lead and manage a dedicated team to ensure the delivery of effective assessment and appropriate services to children and young people in care, working closely with their families and carers in need. The team also works with young people, supporting them to move on from care and holding the lead responsibility for supporting unaccompanied children and young people.
You will be the authoritative lead in advising in the delivery of a specialist service area, whilst shaping responses which feed into service plans/strategies and policies to ensure the best outcomes for Wiltshire's children and their families.
Managing the overall work of the dedicated team, you will be allocating cases and delegating agreed case responsibility and staff supervision to the assistant team manager and aspiring manager as appropriate.
Registered with the HCPC and with relevant professional social work qualifications, you will have significant post-qualification experience.
You will be someone who is calm in a crisis, has the drive and passion to improve practice and outcomes for children and young people, uses data to improve performance and will support and challenge your team in all that they do.
