The opportunity

The General Dental Council (GDC) recently opened a new office Birmingham and now requires a Senior Infrastructure Manager to join the IT Team. This role leads on all IT Infrastructure for the GDC and is responsible for performing the most complex and specialised infrastructure systems administration management and implementation functions. Design, build and automate tools and processes to ensure and improve IT scalability, IT availability and IT performance across all areas of infrastructure technology. Design, implement and manage fully autonomous cloud based and on-premise systems that can scale as new projects come online. The role reports into the IT Enterprise Operations Manager.

In order to be successful in-depth experience with Cloud based computing (AWS EC2/Office 365/Microsoft Azure) is essential as well as being certified in the following areas:

  • VMware Certified Professional,
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation certified,
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate or equivalent

Citrix Certified Administrator although this is desirable.

Experience with networking Switching Infrastructure i.e. VLAN's, Trunks, DHCP, DNS, static routing as well as extensive experience in securing networks with Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Firewalls and Vyatta Appliance, experience with access lists, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) will also be a requirement for this role.
