Senior Accountant – Financial Control and Systems

£45,475 - £51,672 per annum

(subject to relevant skills and experience)

This is an opportunity to work for an ambitious fast-moving local authority with a vision for improving the quality of life for everyone in the borough. At Hertsmere you’ll be working for a unique council which owns the world-famous Elstree Studios in an area rich with film, television and media connections. Located in southern Hertfordshire, Hertsmere is an attractive environment to live and work. It adjoins Greater London and has excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible.

Hertsmere is an enterprising Council, striving for innovative ways to generate income. We are looking for an experienced Finance professional to bring innovation and commercial flair to the team and embrace the Council’s strategic agenda.

As a financially well-managed and forward-looking organisation, we are seeking an individual with a similar commercial approach to Finance who will successfully manage, deliver effective service improvements and tackle challenges in an innovative way.

You will report to and support the Financial Services Manager in their capacity as Hertsmere’s Deputy Section 151 Officer and will be responsible for the Financial Information Systems ensuring that integrity and adequate controls are maintained at all times.

You will be responsible for the efficient and effective operational management, service delivery and quality provision of the council’s accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll teams and will manage the council’s debt management operation.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).

Benefits include 26 – 31 days annual leave (depending on the length of Local Government Service) plus one floating day per annum, local government pension scheme, flexible working hours, free car parking, free use of leisure facilities, cycle scheme, season ticket loans and access to a large staff roof garden.

The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work up to two days per week from home.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Nicola Regis, Financial Services Manager X3145.

Closing date for receipt of applications: Monday 19th June, 10am
