Powys Inclusion and Youth services work in partnership with schools to support pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) and other vulnerable groups.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced leader with a sound understanding of pedagogy and specialist ALN knowledge to join our inclusion service. The successful candidate will need a working knowledge of external and internal policy and practice relating to pupils with ALN. This post will be one of three Inclusion Managers, working under the direction of the Service Manager for Inclusion and Youth Services. An ability to travel across Powys is essential. This post will be working primarily with schools in the south of the county.
Candidates should be passionate about inclusion, equality and diversity and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The inclusion role is very varied and members of the service deal with a wide range of people and community organisations: parents and carers; schools, early education settings and colleges; health professionals such as therapists and paediatricians; social workers; family support workers. Much of the work is highly complex and so you need to be resilient and require good communication and problem-solving skills. You will have a key role in leading casework across the local authority. You will also be expected to represent the service manager for inclusion and youth services at a corporate, regional and national level. The ability to plan and deliver high quality training to a variety of stakeholders is essential.
