Head of Service for Children & Family Services (Social Work) x2
Social Work - Make a Real Difference to the Lives of Children in Cornwall
"Children in Cornwall benefit from good and outstanding services. The long-standing and committed senior leadership team has decisively and persistently focused on improving services for children" OFSTED, 2019
Cornwall is one of only a handful of local authority children's social care services rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED. We are an ambitious Service, focused on improving the lives and the futures of children and young people. Several of our services are in the top 10% nationally and our performance compares well with other local authority children's services rated 'Outstanding'.
We remain committed to the Munro reforms, based on an approach that is systemic, strengths-based, pro-social justice and pro-social learning. We have a strong Early Help offer based on multi-disciplinary teams and positive partnership working. We have a range of evidence-based interventions and innovative services. At the heart of our success is our unwavering commitment to children's rights.
Due to the promotion of the Head of Service for West Cornwall to the role of Service Director and the planned retirement of the Head of Service for Mid Cornwall, we have two exciting opportunities for colleagues who want to advance their career as a senior social work manager.
A Head of Service for area-based early help and children's social care services combines strategic and operational responsibilities. You will also have lead responsibility for a number of specific areas of practice and service delivery across Cornwall.
You will be joining a high performing service with a strong learning and performance culture. You will join a well-established, friendly and supportive Senior Leadership Team that will provide you with fantastic opportunities to develop as a leader of children's services. You will be given time and support to develop into this leadership role, including coaching to help you to make a successful 'step up'. Reporting to the Service Director for Children and Family Services, your values, knowledge and skills will help us to realise our ambition to build on our successes.
You will be a qualified and registered social worker, with a proven record of successfully managing frontline statutory children social care services, and delivering good outcomes for children and families. You will understand the Munro reforms; committed to the development of integrated, place-based services; have the skills to develop and deliver innovative, evidence-based interventions; and know how to safeguard the wellbeing and resilience of our fabulous workforce.
