Your new role

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with experience of Adult Social Care services, charging framework and welfare benefits to develop a specialist career in a role that combines technical expertise, client engagement, and meaningful impact.

The role is key in supporting adults who have been assessed to contribute to the costs of their care and support services and advise them to ensure they maximise their financial wellbeing. Tailored to the client you will deliver high-quality financial assessments and welfare benefits advice for Adult Social Care clients in line with the Care Act 2014 and local charging policies. You will be visiting clients and their representatives in the comfort of their home or chosen location, applying your technical expertise to ensure accurate charging decisions.

This will involve undertaking a comprehensive analysis of their financial circumstances, to determine contributions towards care costs in line with statutory guidance and local policy. You will provide specialist welfare benefits advice, ensuring clients and carers receive their full statutory entitlements and support income maximisation. You will identify eligibility for benefits and support applications where appropriate whilst explaining complex financial decisions clearly, including assessed charges, deferred payment arrangements etc.

Who is the person summary

With proven experience in working within a front-line customer facing service, you will understand the chargeable services provided by Adult Social Care and the Care Act 2014 and how this underpins charging frameworks. With a good working knowledge of completing financial assessments in a similar environment, you will have the ability to identify entitlement to unclaimed benefits, means tested benefits, premiums and state pension providing whilst providing client support.

You will have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and evidence. Excellent communication skills, you will have a customer focused, empathetic approach and be competent in the use of large financial systems and proficient in the use of Microsoft packages. The ability to drive would be an advantage or be confident in the use of public transport to enable you to fulfil the duties of the post. You will be expected to travel around the city, visiting clients in their homes on a daily basis.
