Work Hours: 36 Hours per Week
We are seeking to recruit two Enforcement Officers who will help to recover Council Tax arrears by providing administrative support to the Court officers. You will be responsible for providing accurate information and documents for the Court Officers, and be required to attend the Magistrates Court.
You will liaise with Enforcement Agents, deal with their remittances, returns and invoices and assist in monitoring their performance and database reconciliation.
You will be required to deal directly with customers over the phone, face to face and in writing, providing technical advice and information and assessing their ability to pay before making arrangements to pay. You will also ensure the accuracy of the Council Tax database by accurately maintaining customers' accounts.
You will be involved in making decisions on appropriate enforcement action to ensure that income is maximised for the Council. When attending court you will interview customers, provide technical advice and support the Court Officers as required.
You will also undertake occasional visits to customers in line with the requirements of the post.
It is essential that you have the ability to co-ordinate, plan, prioritise your own workloads and meet set targets. You must be able to create and maintain accurate excel spreadsheets data and have the ability to work independently and within teams in a pressurised work environment, which is subject to frequently changing circumstances in order to meet deadlines.
You will have experience of working in an administrative role/customer orientated revenue collecting environment and be able to achieve set targets and deliver to tight deadlines.
You should also have experience of using Information Technology relating to Council Tax.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a professional approach, are essential in order to deal with the public.
Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to write clear letters and a sound understanding of council tax legislation, regulations, and working practices is essential.
