Director of Public Health & Wellbeing

Full time

Dudley, capital of the Black Country, is a unique borough with history, world class heritage, visitor attractions and proud traditions and above all a great place to call home.

People’s health and wellbeing is a key part of our vision to make Dudley amongst the best places in the UK in which to visit, live and work; and one that we can all be proud of.

To achieve this Dudley Council is also focused on:

  • Setting high standards for council services
  • Making the most effective use of resources
  • Demonstrating the highest ethical standards
  • Promoting good governance standards
  • Being more accessible to communities and individuals so they get the services they need
  • Building strong collaborative partnerships
  • Empowering communities to take action for themselves

As Director of Public Health and Wellbeing you’ll be the driving force behind better health and wellbeing in our borough. Strong collaborative working with our local NHS partners is essential in this role to ensure effective delivery of our innovative integrated Multi-Speciality Community Provider (MCP) which we are co-commissioning with the Clinical Commissioning Group.

You will have experience of managing at a senior level in a public health environment. A demonstrable track-record of delivering improved health and wellbeing outcomes with the ability to identify and help address health inequalities, whilst protecting local communities from public health hazards.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will work across all of our directorates, our partners and with communities to reduce health inequalities, building on our excellent relationships with partners from a wide range of agencies and stakeholders within a political environment. You will also be part of the council’s Strategic Executive Board with collective responsibility for a range of corporate priorities.

If you relish challenge and have the energy, enthusiasm and skills to deliver better outcomes and make a real impact, then we would like to hear from you.
