About the role

We are looking for a dedicated public health leader to drive strategic initiatives across health improvement, protection and care. The Director will serve as the principal adviser on all health matters to elected members, officers and partners, and will lead a multi disciplinary team to protect local communities and reduce health inequalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities.
  • Collaborate with local communities, the NHS and other partners to design and implement innovative solutions.
  • Produce an independent annual report on population health, progress and inequality reduction.
  • Advise elected members, officers and partners on public health matters.
  • Develop and deliver a Health and Wellbeing Strategy based on assessed community needs.
  • Lead and manage a multi disciplinary team delivering public health services.
  • Ensure development and delivery of plans to protect communities from public health hazards.

About You

  • GMC, GDC or UKPHR Public Health specialist registration, or eligibility within six months of interview.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in public health.
  • Strong understanding of social determinants of health and strategies to address inequalities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to influence policy and practice.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
