Consultant in Public Health

We are seeking a dynamic Public Health professional to take up an exciting role in a first-rate Public Health Team in a county where we can really make a difference

About the role
You will be a core member of the Public Health Directorate Leadership Team within Oxfordshire County Council.
Initially it is expected that, in addition to representing public health in key meetings within the council, your job plan will include leadership for Sexual Health Services, Health Protection and Emergency Planning, NHS Health Checks, Smoking Cessation & Tobacco Control, Input to Local Research Networks and delivery of Campaigns informed by Behavioural Insight.
In addition, you will contribute to public health teaching and audit and the management of public health staff in line with lead areas.
Based in Oxford, you will be encouraged to form strategic relationships with local organisations across the County in order to develop joint work interests which align with the Council’s priorities.
As a qualified consultant you will be expected to have the full range of skills and experience to lead across the broad spectrum of public health and to be able to flex lead areas as required.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- A clear grounding in public health principles
- A sound understanding of Local Government, the NHS and partnership working
- The ability to influence, persuade and make change
- The ability to deliver targets and meet deadlines
- The ability to combine an approach grounded in public health skills with top quality management, partnership and commissioning skills.
