Assistant Team Manager - Inclusion Service


£39,438 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Civic Centre, High St, Esher KT10 9SD or Consort House, 5-7 Queensway, Redhill, RH1 1YB.

We are looking for two dynamic, resilient and innovative individuals to work as full time Assistant Team Managers in our highly motivated and effective Inclusion Service. One role is based in Elmbridge Civic Centre, Esher and the one is based in Consort House, Redhill.

About the role

The Assistant Team Manager will be responsible for supervising members of the team, day to day oversight of the team, interviewing parents under caution in accordance with PACE and other delegated responsibilities by the Area Inclusion Manager.

Working as part of the Inclusion Service you will support parents to fulfil their legal responsibility of ensuring that their children attend school. This will involve liaising with schools, parents and other relevant professionals. You will be responsible for monitoring registers, verifying reasons for absence and identifying cases of non-attendance that require further investigation and may lead to legal proceedings. Working closely with school staff to assess these cases you will use your own drive and initiative to develop strategies to return pupils to school and be prepared to challenge attitudes which may hinder this objective. You will need an understanding of the statutory nature of school attendance and be responsible for negotiating school attendance agreements/plans, holding review meetings, producing reports, preparing court files and referring to other agencies. You will also advise school on best practice to improve overall attendance. You will also be responsible for the investigation and recording of children missing education and those being removed from roll to be electively home educated.

You should have experience of working within Education Welfare / Inclusion Service and ideally some line management experience. You will require a high standard of education and excellent communication skills, verbal and written, relevant experience and evidence of recent career development. You will need to be comfortable and confident communicating with parents, children and other professionals. You will be required to travel throughout the county visiting schools and homes, therefore must possess a current full driving licence and will need your own car insured for business purposes.
