Assistant Director - Resources (S151)

Small authority. Big ideas.

What our authority lacks in size, it makes up for in innovation. It's an approach that has seen us launch a raft of exciting projects such as our asset redevelopment and digital transformation programmes. We also have excellent relationships with our Members and an integral part to play in the development of our region. In short, our district may not be large but our impact certainly is.

As Assistant Director for Resources and S151 Officer, your influence can go far in an authority of this size. With responsibility for managing Finance, Performance, Audit and Revenues and Benefits, you'll take charge of a 36-strong team and pay a central role in the Leadership Team. While impeccable service delivery will be a priority, you'll also drive performance, transformation and the fulfilment of corporate strategy. We want you to help take the Resources Directorate forward and think about the future.

Looking beyond Rochford District, you'll contribute to the financial management of the South Essex region. It's an opportunity to engage with peers and improve the area's wider strategic plan.

As sound financial expertise will be essential you must be qualified Chartered Accountant as we will be looking for the capability to take on the role of S151 Officer. We are also looking for the drive to bring improvement and a talent for teamwork. Skilled and experienced at working with Members, you'll have the communication skills to build relationships and give polished presentations. Extensive knowledge of local government governance context and issues is essential along with your grasp of the issues we face as a small authority.

If you'd like to be part of a team that punches above its weight, please contact our consultants at Penna: Anthony Hopkin on , Philippa Watkins on or Rebecca Rampat on . For further information, please visit:
