Independent Reviewing Officer (Foster Carer Reviews)
This is an open-ended position required for 22.2 hours per week.
This post will provide an essential independent role for the county's Family Placement Service. The post will play an important role in achieving good outcomes for Pembrokeshire's looked after and accommodated children through providing a high standard quality assurance and reviewing service, in respect of the approval and review of Pembrokeshire's foster carers, via Foster Carer Annual Reviews.
In Pembrokeshire we are currently pursuing a strategy to increase our foster carer population and at the same time improve the standards of our work with foster carers. Part of this is having a robust mechanism with which to review our foster carers independently and to also consider the role of social workers, young people and other professionals in contributing to those reviews. The role will also provide feedback to the Family Placement Service on its support and management of foster carers and the overall service.
This is an exciting time for Pembrokeshire as we continue to move forward as a Signs of Safety implementing authority. This approach is embedded within the reviewing process for all looked after and accommodated children and will also be for all of its foster carers. The post holder will be supported to develop skills in this approach as well as being supported to develop what is a relatively new role within the authority .
You must possess a relevant qualification in social work and be a registered social worker.
