Head of Strategy - Kingston upon Thames
GBP60,258 to GBP68,151 per annum based at County Hall, Penrhyn Road, Kingston upon Thames KY1 2DN. This position is based inside one of our main area offices, click HERE to see a 360 degree view of the building and surrounding area along with a view of the reception. We are looking to relocate back into the county by 2020 .
Whilst the primary base for the role holder will be in County Hall, Kingston, the work assigned could see the postholder working from any of our sites across the county and so ability to travel is a requirement of the role.

At Surrey, we are undertaking significant fast-paced improvement across the council. Tim Oliver and Joanna Killian (Chief Executive) have emphasized a clear strategic direction as key to the council's improvement journey. In order to achieve this we have embarked upon a massive transformation programme which consists of a number of key projects that are critical to the future success and financial stability of the council. We are on a rapid change journey, with new management, innovative approaches, energy and ambition.

The role of Head of Strategy will play an important part in the council's ongoing transformation. You will inspire the strategy team, working with likeminded colleagues at the heart of the council from the Insight, Analytics and Intelligence service and beyond, to drive the council's strategic planning framework.
In this role, you will lead the development, promotion and implementation of long term visioning and strategic planning for the council, alongside developing shorter-term strategic priorities and plans, which deliver value for money and improve outcomes for residents. You will also develop evidenced-led policy, drawing on the most innovative thinking and approaches from across the public and private sectors, whilst ensuring the residents' voice is at the centre of strategic plans and the council's on?? going improvement journey.
You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work at pace, be innovative and have a genuine interest in making a difference and a real change for the people of Surrey. You'll have the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and the confidence to challenge the status quo.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be an adept negotiator with a flair for influencing others, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You'll have a successful track record of developing and delivering high profile, high impact strategies and policies, as well as an understanding of the key issues facing local government, the wider public sector and partners. You'll also have a proven ability to inspire and motivate others.
