Pension Investments Manager - Greater Gwent (Torfaen) Pension Fund
Torfaen County Borough Council administers the Greater Gwent (Torfaen) Pension Fund. The overall function of the Pension Service is to administer the Local Government Pension Scheme in South East Wales on behalf of 60,000 members across 62 employers. This includes managing the investment assets of the Fund which currently amount to GBP2.95bn through both internal and external investment arrangements. Reporting to the Head of Pensions, the main role of the post-holder is to proactively cover all aspects of pension fund investment and governance (as it relates to investments) in accordance with legislative requirements and best practice.
The Pension Fund sets high expectations for its services, and must secure the services of a person able to deliver these. This post is thus a unique opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced professional with drive, organisational ability and vision to help develop the Service during a time of challenge and change both within the Council and wider public sector reform within which the All Wales investment collaboration and increased governance and scrutiny demands will form an important part.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of managing a team, including managing priorities and workloads, and have a good level of IT knowledge, good report writing and communications skills and the ability to engage and represent the Council at meetings with external stakeholders' and a variety of third parties. The successful candidate will therefore be able to respond well to a set of objectives and targets. They will be able to quickly and decisively work with the Pension Funds stakeholders to good effect, and maintain the reputation of the Fund in terms of its service delivery.
