The support and safeguarding service work with some of our most vulnerable children in Wiltshire, including children in need, children in need of protection, children who are the subject of family proceedings and a proportion of our looked after children.

Families and children will receive a high quality, efficient and effective social work service which results in them being more resilient and will say that you made a positive difference to their lives.

About the role

You will be supporting the manager to direct, co-ordinate and provide leadership to all staff within your team, and in the team managers absence you will deputise by providing management cover and support for operational arrangements.

Within this role, you will be expected to undertake supervision of team members, allocate work and make judgements on intervention, child protection and closure of cases.

About you

As an excellent problem solver and confident decision maker, you'll bring with you considerable social work experience, relevant management/supervision qualifications (minimum of level 4) and/or a minimum of 2 years' experience or training

We recognise that our staff need the right training and support for their practice and professional development to allow them to offer the best support and service to children and young people and their families and carers. We offer a clear support and progression for practitioners including leadership and mentoring programmes for social work staff who would like to progress in their careers.

You must be qualified to a DipSW level or equivalent and be registered as a social worker with HCPC registration.
