Led by the HFMA's 2018 Finance Director of the Year, Tameside Council and NHS Tameside and Glossop CCG (the Strategic Commission) have a single Director of Finance and integrated finance team, supporting the management of a gross revenue budget in excess of GBP900m.

Services are supported via a business partnering approach providing financial advice and expertise throughout the whole organisation. You will play a crucial role in building cutting edge service that will serve residents and help improve health outcomes as part of our wider Care Together programme.

This post will play a pivotal role in supporting the transformation of services delivered within Financial Management alongside professional standards and frameworks. Some of the key projects, priorities and responsibilities include:

•Working with the Systems Team to ensure the recently upgraded financial system meets the needs of the organisation, developing and maintaining data, structures and reporting tools to support budget setting, monitoring and year end processes.

•Assessing financial accounting systems, interfaces, processes and procedures, to drive implementation of improvements and efficiencies for both financial management and budget holders.

•Monitor, review and develop the core financial management processes and procedures, recommending and supporting improvements where appropriate.

•Provide advice and support to the budget setting process, savings implementation and monitoring. Review and develop the financial reporting arrangements.

•Evaluating financial management skills and disciplines of service budget managers. Development, implementation and delivery of appropriate tools and training together with the provision of related support to embed financial management across services.

•Provide specialist financial advice and technical support on a wide range of projects across the organisation, including support and advice to the budget setting processes and savings implementation and monitoring.
