Job Type: Full Time Permanent (36 hours per week)

The London Borough of Bromley is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Insurance and Risk Manager. Reporting to the Head of Audit, you will have responsibility for the professional management of the Council’s insurance and corporate risk functions and will lead on all insurance and risk management related matters.

The key responsibilities of the post include: 

  • ensuring relevant insurance policies and appropriate levels of cover are maintained;
  • leading on the appointment of external insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and other experts;
  • management of claims handling arrangements including the negotiation and settlement of more serious or complex claims;
  • ensuring proper financial control of expenditure and income in line with financial regulations and internal procedures;
  • leading on the work of the corporate risk management group, maintaining a risk management strategy for the Council;
  • working closely with all Council services, providing advice and guidance on our insurance and risk management functions.

You will have extensive experience in managing an insurance and risk management service in a large and complex organisation. Local Government experience is desirable, though not essential. You will need to maintain a detailed and up to date working knowledge of professional and legislative developments in insurance and risk management.
