About The Team

Hounslow Housing has recently restructured its Housing Services Division. An opportunity has arisen within its Lettings and Acquisitions Team, for an experienced Lettings Manager to lead on property acquisitions and void management.

Key Responsibilities

Line manage and coordinate the work of the Voids and Acquisitions team, consisting of three Lettings Coordinators, the Lettings Negotiators and Voids officers who report to them, to:

  1. Manage and secure sufficient supply of appropriate housing across a range of tenures to meet the requirements of those in housing need
  2. Manage and be responsible for the effective and efficient enforcement of leases and contracts, to a range of private landlords, managing agents and property providers Deliver an efficient and professional end to end void management service, minimising cost and rental loss.

Your Skills

  1. Proven ability to negotiate and influence the implementation of complex joint initiatives with agencies, partners and stakeholders to deliver maximum value for money 
  2. Knowledge and understanding of social and private sector housing services, with the ability to practically apply this knowledge in the operational delivery of a highly efficient void management service and in developing new business opportunities for the provision of temporary accommodation and private sector accommodation Demonstrable experience in building positive and productive relationships with colleagues, partners and customers and using performance management to drive service improvements  Ability to lead effective team, attracting and developing staff to meet their full potential in line with the changing needs of the service.

Essential for the Role

  • Level 2 qualified in English and Maths (e.g. GCSE C+, or equivalent
  • Relevant further and higher academic qualifications are desirable but not essential. (e.g. Degree or equivalent).

This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
