Data Hub Manager
Data Hub Manager
As one of the most diverse places in the world, and with the youngest population in the country, Newham is a unique and vibrant place to work. As the local council for the area we deliver a host of different services, from housing to social care to early education.
The Council is constantly innovating and working to transform the lives of local people with a focus on building the resilience of residents, our community and the local economy. We do things no other local authority does - like the first borough-wide Landlord Licensing scheme in the country, or our transformative local employment service, Workplace.
The Data Hub is a new and growing team in Newham building on the success of the Data Warehouse Programme though the expansion of Business Intelligence.
We play a central role in the Council, providing tools, reports and insight to drive modernisation and improve service delivery while reducing costs. Situated at the heart of the organisation's strategy team, we are focussed on delivering an analysis programme to deliver transformation and automate reporting supported by our Elected Mayor and the Strategic Leadership Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to put your people management and problem solving skills to work to make a real difference to the lives of people in one of London's most dynamic, diverse, and deprived neighbourhoods.
You will get the chance to lead a team of driven subject experts, working on a programme which leads the field when it comes to data in the public sector. You will work with people across the organisation, from directors to frontline staff, to understand the challenges they face and design data-driven products that solve them.
You will be a key player in realising the Council's savings targets through supporting innovation in commissioning and operations, and exploiting commercial opportunities. You will have an important role in cross-council data management, ensuring good governance and improving data quality.
From helping us to intervene early when children are at risk, to helping to join up services, you will be the driving force behind projects that have a recognisable impact on people's lives.
The successful applicant will be a data analyst, business intelligence, or policy professional with experience of using data to change the way services are delivered, and a demonstrable understanding of business intelligence, reporting and data science methods. You will be comfortable working with ICT and statistics professionals, and translating their work for a range of audiences.
You will have significant experience of managing change projects from inception through to delivering improvements and savings. You will be a creative thinker who wants to engage with difficult problems and challenge the way that we do 'business as usual'.
Ideally you'll have worked in the public sector, but experience of working in challenging environments or large organisations would also be welcome. You'll be adept at working with senior management and constructively challenging them.
