Compliance Officer-Footpaths and Walls
We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer with a civil engineering or geotechnical engineering background to work within the Housing department.
Undertaking a risk assessment based survey of all footpaths, retaining walls, steps, handrails, barriers, culverts, etc. which form part of an estate, you will need to create and maintain a risk-based register for re-inspections. You will be able to update our mapping system and liaise with colleagues holding similar roles within the Council to look for opportunities to cooperate and collaborate and improve Council-wide efficiency.
You will be familiar with Highways Agency associated guidance, as well as appropriate H&S legislation such as CDM and management regulations. You will have the technical expertise to be able to order appropriate remedial works and subsequently manage contractor performance, ensuring all H&S and Highways regulations are adhered to and that works are delivered on cost and on time.
Good communications skills are essential. Reporting to the Health, Safety and Compliance Lead, the post will require initiative and a certain amount of independent working whilst working within an team and maintaining close links with other managers in the department and beyond.
A good level of fitness is also essential as extensive walking in all weathers to undertake inspections and risk assessments will be a key feature of this role.
