Our focus as a council must be on making life better for our most vulnerable children; a responsibility which we lead but is also shared across public, private and voluntary sector partners in Enfield. This has been an area of strength for many years due to mature partnerships and experienced, committed and stable leadership. However, a relentless focus on service improvement and partnership working is essential to further improve the lives of the growing number of vulnerable children living in our borough.

The Director of Children and Family Services will be accountable for the leadership and delivery of a wide range of statutory and regulated services which must measurably improve the lives of children and families in Enfield with a key focus on ensuring a positive impact for those children most in need of protection and care.

This is a role that demands both the pragmatism of experience and a desire to do things differently. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of People Services you'll be our lead children's safeguarding professional and will ensure that children in Enfield can grow up in a safe environment and have access to the services and educational opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.

It's important that you can bring sound budget management skills to the role, supported by clarity of expectation around performance and value for money. A natural leader, you'll set the tone for our Children's Services, ensuring that our work is child-centred, founded on shared principles and aspirations and is closely aligned to our corporate ambitions for young people and their families. Professional credibility will be key and it's important that you can quickly instil confidence in colleagues, partners and our elected members as we work together to deliver successful outcomes for our communities.
