We are seeking to recruit a strong, highly motivated Service Manager for this key role managing Camden's hospital-based social work service. This is a dynamic and challenging role, which requires the ability to make a positive contribution to strategic developments across health and social care whilst providing the operational experience and skills to ensure Camden residents receive a high quality assessment and hospital discharge service at all times.

We are developing a strengths based approach to practice across Adult Social Care and are particularly interested to receive applications from those who are committed to helping develop this approach with our residents and partners.

As a professionally qualified, competent and confident manager, the Service Manager (Hospitals) will take the strategic and operational lead in Camden's Adult Social Care services based at the Royal Free, University College London and St Pancras hospitals. Working with Heads of Service, fellow Service Managers, Team Managers and frontline staff, the post holder will ensure the delivery of a genuinely person-centred service within a culture of continuous improvement and best use of resources. Importantly, the role involves being responsible for ensuring that Camden's already excellent relationships with our NHS partners in the hospitals and the community health services are maintained and further developed.

Representing Adult Social Care at key meetings, contributing to the strategic direction of the service and leading on project areas, including whole systems approaches to delivery. You will be responsible for a service area where close collaboration between colleagues at all levels is essential. You will use your leadership skills both to influence and to promote this way of working.

As a team, Service Managers will be responsible for implementing a new set of operational principles designed to refocus ASC services, safeguarding and the efficient day to day running of the service and with Team Managers, who will develop and spread excellent practice throughout the service.

The role requires someone with extensive experience of working collaboratively on discharge pathways, including Discharge to Assess and Reablement and the ability to keep delayed discharges to a minimum, as well as introducing strategies to reduce delays further.

The post holder will require an excellent understanding of and commitment to the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal and will have responsibility for ensuring that close collaboration takes place between members of the professional network in order to keep vulnerable Camden residents safe.

Camden Council Adult Social Care (ASC) has been involved in a CCG led integrated care initiative since April 2012, as a result of which a primary care social care model has been established to achieve both positive health and social care outcomes. The post holder will also initially have responsibility for managing the social care staff based in the locality hubs.

You will possess a relevant professional qualification, preferably as a social worker or OT, sound experience and/or degree in management / business, valid HCPC registration. This must be coupled with strong experience of people management and team building skills.

The ideal person will have strong experience of budgetary control and management with a strong knowledge of commissioning and development of services, including the BCF and IBCF. You must be able to work collaboratively with partners in health and the VCS.

It is also essential for you to have substantial knowledge and practical application of risk assessment and safeguarding adult's statutory frameworks and current agendas, including the Care Act, NHS CHC, and Making Safeguarding Personal.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
