Mid Kent Services (MKS) is a strategic partnership between Maidstone, Swale and Tunbridge Wells through which a number of shared services operate, including the delivery of the HR, Payroll and Learning and Development functions.
The HR shared service is hosted by Maidstone BC (employer) on behalf of the partnership, with a team of 13.57 FTE's providing support to 800 employees across the two Authorities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong HR professional to join the HR Shared Service who will have responsibility for leading, coaching and ensuring the delivery of a high quality generalist operational HR Service supporting a number of key areas of the organisation. Reporting into the Head of HR Shared Services this role combines both a strategic people issues and HR operational focus with the opportunity to develop and improve our HR systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of the service.
The successful candidates will need an exceptional knowledge of employment law, a strong operational HR background and experience of successfully managing a team of HR professionals as well as administrative staff. An experienced HR practitioner, your excellent communication skills and engaging approach will be combined with an ability to think pragmatically and to resolve issues effectively.
You will be responsible for leading the provision of HR expertise and professional advice to a diverse range of managers and employees on applying appropriate HR solutions and practices and interpreting HR policies and procedures across a range of services provided throughout the Council.
Ideally you will have experience of local government or within the public sector, together with proven experience of giving direction and supporting complex organisational and cultural change. Experience of working with Trade Unions is essential and you will have a strong customer focus and a genuine interest and commitment to leading and improving services.
Candidates must have a relevant professional qualification e.g. CIPD and be educated to Degree level or equivalent with significant experience of working in a senior HR role.
You will be required to influence the business through effective management and delivery of a proactive HR service within a fast paced complex HR environment.
This is a full time position on a permanent contract with Maidstone Borough Council.
