Street Works Technical Officer
An opportunity has arisen to work within our street works team as a street works technical officer. Our street works team are responsible for co-ordinating all works activities on the highway.
Our team work closely together to ensure that some 15,000 works carried out on the highway comply with the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
About the role
You will be carrying out a wide range of technical duties including monitoring street works notices, processing and approving licence applications and undertaking checks to ensure that all works are legally compliant, answering queries from the public and liaising with the utility companies and our works contractor on a daily basis.
Excellent telephone skills are essential as is an ability to work well under pressure, manage conflicting demands and respond to customer complaints.
You will have experience working in an office related environment, ideally in a highways related field, although this is not necessary.
