Head of Service - Children Looked After

An exciting senior management opportunity has arisen within Rhondda Cynon Taf Children Services for a Head of Children Looked After. This is a key role with responsibility for all services to Children Looked After (CLA) within Rhondda Cynon Taf. You will oversee all foster care, residential services and our placements team, ensuring within these services excellence of practice and service delivery. You will also be responsible for linking with the Regional Adoption Service, leading the strategic direction of services and the introduction of the National Fostering Framework.
You will be a qualified social worker with considerable practice and management experience, who is able to lead teams to deliver excellent practice and drive performance. You will have highly effective communication skills, strategic vision and leadership skills to shape services in order to meet and champion the needs of these service user groups you are responsible for and drive continuous improvement. You will also have the ability to establish networks and work effectively with other multi-agency professionals.
Based in Abercynon the new Head of Children Looked After will find very strong corporate and political commitment to Children Looked After. Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification, and be registered with or have the commitment to register with Social Care Wales (or equivalent UK body) on appointment, together with substantial experience of managing child care services including the management of child protection services, staff and budgets.
