Hackney is London's most diverse, dynamic neighbourhood. Reaching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid growth particularly in technology, media, fashion and other creative sectors. Hackney has more green spaces than any other inner London borough; some of the capital's finest schools and first-class transport connections. Last year the LGC named us Council of the Last 20 Years. We need people with ambition, creativity and commitment to help us continue our work.

Hackney Council is looking for someone who can ensure our residents benefit from the borough's economic growth. We need someone who understands the issues we face and can deliver results that maximise local employment. This is a key role in our work to make Hackney a place for everyone.

As Employer Engagement Programme Manager, you will nurture relationships with major businesses coming into Hackney. You will help them understand local opportunities and the benefits of engaging with our employment agenda. You will also build relationships with SMEs and other internal and external stakeholders, helping them maximise any employment potential.

This is a high-profile role. You will be leading on the delivery of an ambitious strategy that turns our Mayoral priorities into positive outcomes. We need someone with gravitas, who has sound judgement and excellent influencing skills. You will be working alongside senior officers and Politicians as well as working in partnership with a wide range of businesses.

Day to day this work will involve monitoring, and reporting progress to a senior audience. As first point of contact for external businesses, you will chair meetings and create events that bring a variety of organisations together. You will keep abreast of national initiatives, new trends and policy - keeping us on the cutting edge of this important work.

This role involves line managing two Employer Engagement Officers as well as having supervision responsibilities for others on a matrix basis. You should have a structured approach to work and be able to use a variety of IT packages. You will need to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritise a competing workload.
