RBBC has undertaken a fundamental review of its legal services requirements, working with private legal expertise to develop a structure to meet the Councils needs in a modern and proactive way; and which provides high quality work and great opportunities for able and enthusiastic lawyers. The work will be varied and challenging, with support from our developing partnerships with the private sector to enable you to develop your knowledge and career prospects.
This role reports directly to the Councils Monitoring Officer and you will be a member of the department management team, and one of the Councils Deputy Monitoring Officers. You will lead a team of lawyers and other staff dealing with litigation (mainly criminal); procurement/contracts and general commercial work, assisting the Council on its developing commercialization agenda. Experience in licensing is not essential, but would be useful. The ability to think strategically and pragmatically, to problem solve, and to advise on policy as well as practical legal issues will be welcomed.
