Role Purpose

We are looking to recruit a deputy who is looking for a challenge. You will need to demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm and be an experienced electoral administrator who can deliver high quality services. You must have experience of the registration process under Individual Electoral Registration (IER) and all types of elections. You will assist and support the Head of Electoral Services in the complete range of duties involved in preparing and maintaining electoral registers and the conduct of elections and referenda for the borough, ensuring a transparent, professional and efficient approach at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Good communication skills are essential as you will be dealing with members of the public, councillors and senior officers. Above all, you will need the drive and commitment to contribute to this service and to its development. Knowledge of Xpress software is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.


You must hold the AEA Certificate, be flexible in your approach and demonstrate excellent managerial skills.

This is a key role within the authority and you will need to deliver successful outcomes within the usual constraints facing local government. This post includes managing outreach activities to promote registration and elections. During peak periods you will be required to work additional hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to meet demanding deadlines for the service.
