Head of Home/Residential Manager
The Council's Change for Children Transformation Programme seeks to build a strong and financially sustainable future for children and families across Buckinghamshire. In the context of increasing demand on services, it aims to achieve changes in the way we deliver services so we provide children and families with the right support at the right time, target services better and work with partners to ensure we can continue to educate and protect children and improve their life chances.
As part of this Change of Children programme, we are embarking on introducing four new Children's residential homes in Buckinghamshire. Our residential homes will provide stable, effective placements for young people, including those with challenging behaviour - providing them with a safe, caring community in which they can learn how to build positive relationships. We are looking for a Residential Manager/Head of Home for our new Aylesbury Children's Home who can provide a positive living experience for the resident young people by caring for their physical, emotional and social needs.
About the role
You will encourage and stimulate emotional and social growth by devising and organising out-of-school activities, encouraging the children/young people to socialise and to join organisations outside of the Home. You will make specific contributions to the formation and implementation of care/placement for young people and work in partnership with families and carers of children, Social Workers and other outside agencies, as required.
You will have a DipSW or equivalent qualification and have the expertise to supervise managerial and senior residential social work staff, taking responsibility for standards of professional practice and levels of performance and ensuring that good practice is maintained. You will also be able to manage and monitor budgets and delivery good quality services based on current best practice and to drive service improvement where necessary. You will also have a proven track record of working in partnership with other agencies."
