We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Engagement Officer to help shape the economic future of Bath and North East Somerset.
You will develop, deliver and maintain a business engagement programme. The programme will assist in the development and implementation of projects promoting sustainable development, economic competitiveness as well as business growth across our region.
Your role will be within the Economy and Culture team of our Community Regeneration Service. Working with the Business Growth team, you'll help deliver the Business theme of the Economic Development Strategy and relevant sections of our Community Plan.
You'll need to develop and undertake a business visit programme, providing information on relevant business support packages, including the Enterprise West of England project. With an aim of increasing business and employment growth you'll help solve issues faced by businesses.
For this role it's essential you have a track record in economic development and/or regeneration. This will include experience in at least three of the below areas:
- Business support and development
- Business engagement
- CRM management
- Labour market/ skills policy and initiatives
- Marketing, promotion and inward investment
- Delivery and monitoring of economic development and/or regeneration programmes
Bath & North East Somerset has a diverse and exciting business community. Containing two leading Universities and with historic strengths in the arts, technology, engineering and design, B&NES is home to many creative thinkers and innovators.
The area has ambitious growth plans for the future. We aim to build on our strengths in existing priority sectors to create over 10,000 jobs and 150,000 sq m of employment space by 2036.
However, in order to realise the area's potential for economic growth whilst ensuring the long-term economic sustainability of the area, a range of issues need to be tackled. Our economy is less productive, and has lower workplace earnings, than the broader West of England and national economies. Levels of entrepreneurship also fall behind other West of England economies.
So you can play a part by encouraging and enabling businesses and entrepreneurs to grow and prosper. You'll be working to deliver opportunities for businesses and residents, and ensure a competitive local economy for the future.
This post is based in the fabulous heritage city of Bath and as with all our posts has many great benefits including flexible working.
