Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Tower Hamlets and reduce health inequalities, working as part of a team focusing on the healthy environments programme.

You will be part of of the Healthy Environments and Communities team working across the public health division, the council and with partners. You will use public health skills to make progress against these aspirations and, in particular, the priority actions around these that are reflected in the Healthy Place and Employment and Health priority areas of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

You will report to the Health Environments Programme Lead and will support and lead elements of the development and implementation of the programme based on the aspirations set out above. You will line manage a Public Health Officer and will deputise for the Programme Lead - Healthy Environments where required.

Key Responsibilities

The key areas of responsibility for this post are to work with the Public Health Programme Lead and Programme Officer around delivery of elements of the Healthy Environment Programme workplan which will encompass work on the Programme Area covering:

  • Logic modelling around outcomes
  • Insight and intelligence
  • Strategy, partnership engagement, planning and communications
  • Commissioning and delivery
  • Evaluation, innovation and research
  • Developing public health skills and leadership
  • Management of budgets and resources

Requirements

You will need to hold a masters level qualification in Public Health or related subject or equivalent experience, have a strong commitment to public health principles and significant experience of public health practice.

Additional Information

You are likely to be requested to be available for occasional evening and weekend meetings, subject to the requirements of the work programme.
