The main function of Environmental Health and Licensing is to provide a safe, healthy and attractive environment for all those who live, work or visit the City of Exeter. As the functions of the service are of a technical or specialised nature, the service has a dedicated support team to assist in the delivery of its functions.

The role of the Environment Support Officer is to provide a comprehensive support service to a number of front line council services which includes providing a customer enquiries service; data input and retrieval, cash handling and reconciliation; administering training courses and supporting various health initiatives.

The successful applicant will need to be business minded, demonstrating a high regard for customer care, strong IT skills and have excellent communication skills. The challenging nature of the role requires a positive, flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with the ability to inspire and enthuse a team in a "can do approach" to service provision in an environment of continuous change and improvement.
