Role Purpose

Carers are a lifeline to health and social care services providing invaluable contribution to our community.

This is a great time to join Tower Hamlets as the Carers' Transformation Programme Manager to work across the Tower Hamlets Together partnership. Your role will be to ensure that Tower Hamlets is at the forefront of delivering excellent carers' services, both in health and social care.

Tower Hamlets is committed to partnership working and this particular opportunity represents a unique approach and commitment on the part of health and social care services to improve carers' experience in one of the most diverse, deprived and yet exciting boroughs in the country. The council and the CCG have published a joint Carers' Strategy for the period 2016-19, which has identified a number of priorities to ensure carers are recognised, reach their potential and have a life outside of their caring role.

You will be an experienced health or social care professional with an interest in carers. You will have a strong track record in delivering transformational service change, and substantial experience of influencing and engaging senior managers to ensure that the redesigned services are practicable and provide a better journey for carers in health and social care.

Key Responsibilities

You will ensure that support for carers is developed in an integrated manner and on a multi-agency basis. You will work in and across multi-disciplinary teams and lead on improving service delivery, including the development and delivery of awareness training, as well as providing leadership and expert advice and support to all staff.

You will coordinate the work across the whole partnership, working with organisational carer leads, promoting and facilitating the required services and ensuring carers services are robust and integrated yet ensure carers are recognised as equal and expert partners.

You must be a self-motivated person who is used to working within a political environment and at a high level. You must have first rate external communication and community engagement skills, an excellent understanding of the health and social care pressures facing inner city areas, and experience of policy and process analysis and development. This will be a challenging position, and you may be expected to work out of hours according to the needs of the service.

Requirements

You will have experience in transforming services in health and/or social care. You will need demonstrable experience of working with senior managers; influencing change; ensuring that all partners are committed to transforming carers' services; and aligning health and social care services so that they support, educate and enable carers to continue in their caring role.

Additional Information

This is a temporary post funded for one year. It would be ideal for a secondment arrangement.
