You will be responsible for managing a team of social work staff delivering an assessment and care management function for older people, including Adult Protection, AWI and Hospital Discharge responsibilities.
You will provide professional leadership as first line manager with day to day operational management responsibility for a team or of Social Work staff delivering front line social work services for Older People, whilst ensuring high standards of practice parameters and service provision are maintained.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than GBP8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.
You will require to have a social work qualification and extensive post qualifying experience within a community care assessment and care management setting. This is essential together with experience assessing and meeting the needs of individuals with a range of needs within a challenging financial climate.
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.
You will have experience of working with older people. Previous responsibility for managing/supervising staff and the ability to delegate are essential. You will have excellent written and oral communication, organisational and prioritisation skills, as well as leadership, decision making, strategic planning and service development skills. You will also be able to manage change and budgets. You must have experience of assessment, review and care planning and experience of working with carers and families. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
The Individual
You should evidence a strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures and practice issues. Knowledge of local policies, procedures and frameworks in addition to assessment skills and the ability to work positively and closely with other agencies. You should have the ability to travel throughout Fife. In addition, you should have good, clear, written and verbal communication and presentation skills, experience in team development, a sound awareness of your own values and their impact on practice, and embody an inclusive approach to anti-discriminatory working. You should also have an awareness of the impact of stress and the ability to manage stress pro-actively.
