Head of Development Services

Circa GBP50 - 55k pa

This is a great opportunity for a senior Chartered Town Planner or Chartered Surveyor (P&D) from the public or private sector to advise on the property portfolio and service needs of Hertfordshire County Council through a fast moving and challenging period for local government.

This is an influential, far-reaching role that will make you a central figure in the future development of our organisation. Our front line services continue to evolve radically in response to growing demand and reducing funds and it is recognised that our citizens needs will only be met if we have the right assets to effectively support service delivery. It is an excellent environment in which to make your mark. You will take on a remit which includes responsibility for reacting to local plans; S106 and CIL negotiations on residential development and; leading on the making of planning applications (eg for residential developments or schools), all on behalf of county council services.

A fundamental aspect of the role will be analysing and reacting to longer term trends - for example projected population growth and reducing budgets will have a huge impact on estate and accommodation needs. Ensuring Hertfordshire meets the growth agenda and maximises the opportunities presented alongside current and future funding streams will present the right candidate with the opportunity to make a real contribution to Hertfordshire today and in the years to come.

You will be a quick and logical thinker with good communication and persuasive negotiation skills and an appetite for a challenge. This role offers great career experience for an ambitious individual.

For an informal discussion on how your track record as a chartered town planner or surveyor with a proven record in public or private sector organisations could help us meet these challenges, please contact Mark Handford-Jones on .
