At Coventry City Council, we’re on an exciting journey of continuous improvement. We’ve already developed a great reputation for high quality service, and we’re a top performing authority in safeguarding. Right now, we’re looking for an exceptional leader to support our clear, strategic vision – to help all adults in Coventry realise their potential.
As our new Assistant Director for Community Services, you will play a key role in implementing our ambitious programme of transformation. Everything you do will help to drive efficiency, cashable savings and market choice across the directorate and the wider Council.
We’ll expect you to manage the operational aspects of both the Adults Safeguarding Service and the commissioning function of adult social care, part of our newly realigned Adult Social Care provision. So it’s important that you’re comfortable working at a senior level with Cabinet Members, Scrutiny Members, senior executives of the Council and partners across the City.
As well as contributing to our corporate aims and objectives, you will also help us respond to requirements of the national agenda and ensure that we fulfil our duties under relevant legislation. And of course, when the need arises, you’ll step up to act as the Director of Community Services.
To be successful in this role, you will bring the ability to translate vision and policy into practical action, during a period of economic challenge. Therefore, it’s essential that you bring previous experience of delivering significant service and cultural change to a successful conclusion.
As well as a thorough understanding of the policy and legislative framework for the transformation of adult social care, you’ll also be familiar with the wider public sector change programme. With a keen political awareness and sensitivity, you’ll be highly tuned to the issues affecting delivery.
You’ll inspire confidence and forge effective partnerships across the public, private, voluntary and community sectors. Crucially, with highly developed leadership skills and the ability to think strategically, you will provide clear direction in an environment that is constantly changing.
