Finance is right at the top of the agenda here at Cornwall. Our bold financial strategy has placed us in an enviable financial position, with healthy reserves. Now we’re redesigning our Finance Service to meet changing needs and realising our exciting vision for the future. This is where you ome in.
As part of that service design a new Assistant Head of Finance post has been created for a highly experienced, forward thinking, innovative and self motivated senior finance professional. You will be a member of the Service’s Senior Management Team and will require insight and leadership skills to lead financial strategy within the Council and our Partners as well as anaging risk. The above responsibilities cover not only the Council but also the Companies that the Council owns, as well as Companies in which the Council has a significant interest.
Increasingly the Council is working with Partner organisations elsewhere in the Cornwall Public Sector. This will see the Assistant Heads working with colleagues in these other organisations designing solutions to meet Sector wide requirements whilst not risking the Council’s interests.
Reporting to the Head of Finance (S151 Officer) the postholders each lead highly skilled specialist teams covering; Corporate Finance, Business Support, Group Finance, Internal Audit and Risk Management, and Treasury Management and Pensions. We believe in developing and killing our management team to create a flexible team that can rotate across these areas.
Bottom line is that we are looking to recruit a team player that can deliver outstanding results, incorporating best practice and drive continuous improvement both within and beyond the Finance service. You will need to be CCAB qualified or equivalent, with a keen understanding of public sector accounting, business sense and commercial strategy. You will also need great eadership skills with a proven ability to get the very best out of those around you.
