Help us make Leeds the best city for all our children and young people

As the second largest urban Authority in the country, Leeds is a busy, ambitious, thriving and diverse city. We have a lot to be proud of as a Council, and our Children’s Services are in the midst of a remarkable transformation as reported in our recent Ofsted inspection. Ofsted reported that Leeds Children’s Services had demonstrated “…remarkable and impressive improvement in the quality of the services inspected and the safety of children in the city”.

But that is not enough for us, or for the children and young people of Leeds. We want to move further and faster. With a new senior management team in place, we are now looking forward to the next stage in our improvement journey.

We are seeking to appoint two highly effective individuals to join the leadership team within a newly integrated Children’s Services Directorate, to provide strategic and safe operational practice for the children of Leeds. The post holders will lead the social work teams in their areas, working closely with partners, schools and communities to ensure better outcomes for children and young people and to improve front line practice. Working with partners across the city we are implementing a range of improvement initiatives from restorative practice and Family Group Conferencing through to locality working.

These are challenging roles, but they also have the potential to be extremely rewarding, and even career-changing. We are on a path to real success and by helping us achieve our goals, you could also achieve yours.

Applicants must be social work qualified and have significant and successful senior management experience of achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
