Assistant Director (Environment, Planning and Customer Services) (Ref: 40027926/LGC)
Salary £76,579 - £84,229
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented senior manager to join a forward thinking organisation at an exciting time of change. Reporting to the Executive Director for Communities, you will act as both a service director, leading and commissioning the delivery of specific council functions, as well as working on a corporate level to deliver strategic aims and activities.
This post will entail the direction of three key service areas:
• Environmental Services, which covers waste management and the natural environment, including the delivery of our pioneering EfW project valued at £140m, and maintaining our high recycling rates.
• Planning Services, which includes not only our Development Management and Strategic Planning functions, but also the Historic Environment team.
• The Council’s Customer Service Centre, which has been nationally recognised by the Customer Contact Association. Alongside this, the postholder will lead on the ongoing delivery of our ground-breaking Flood Risk and Drainage Management Partnership, an innovative solution to one of the biggest risks facing our county.
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leadership and management, ideally within the local government sector, but this is not essential, although you should be comfortable working in a political environment. We are also looking for commercial and business experience and a strong decision making track record, along with an appreciation of the ‘place’ you work in, experience of the built or natural environments, demonstrable programme and project management, combined with the ability to inspire and help us build on our successes so far.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Richard Wills, Executive Director for Communities, on (01522) 553000.
This post will attract the payment of relocation expenses where applicable in line with the current Lincolnshire County Council Relocation Scheme and will also be required to travel to undertake the duties of the role.
