Director of Public Health
Birmingham, home to over a million people, has a very proud and successful history of improving health and wellbeing. Through this new role, the impact of public health will reach across the city, beyond the delivery of vital health improvement, protection and public health services. Birmingham’s complexity, size and diversity, together create an exciting and substantial public health challenge. The Director of Public Health will work with colleagues across the NHS and City Council to deliver and infl uence major health and wellbeing improvements for people in Birmingham. As an exceptional leader, highly experienced and appropriately qualified public health professional, with support from cabinet members, colleagues and partners you will lead the public health function to national prominence, building on ‘best practice’. Initially employed within the NHS the post will transfer to Birmingham City Council subject to the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill.
