Given the financial challenges facing all Local Authorities, standing still is simply not an option. Here at Trafford Council we are seeing the current climate as an opportunity to do things differently and focus on what our communities really want and need.
Working closely with our partners, residents, community groups and businesses, Trafford Council is determined to refresh and reappraise how we deliver services. We’ve successfully reduced budgets whilst maintaining key front line services but we still have a long way to go and we don’t want to stop essential services – so we therefore need to introduce some radical changes and redefine how we are organised and how we operate.
This will be the primary focus of our new Head of Business Change and ICT. Bringing together transformation and ICT, the role will work across the Council and also externally to ensure that change goes beyond the superficial. The new postholder will need great technical skills and understanding, but also the ability to influence colleagues and partners. Indeed, a large element of the role will be winning the battle for ‘hearts and minds’.
Candidates will need a strong understanding of the current drivers and dynamics within the public sector, and some tangible experience of delivering transformation through the use of ICT. Senior management experience within a large and complex organisation is also key.
