SEEM was established in 2002 and has developed into a respected and effective regional representative body, policy hub and co-ordinator of services to social enterprises. SEEM enjoys the support of many of the region’s most dynamic social enterprises with board members from P3, Building Blocks Solutions, Stride and Hill Holt Wood. In turn SEEM seeks to build profile for these organisations and for the thousands of other businesses in our region that put social purpose first.

We are known for our leading edge work on many aspects of policy and practice concerning social enterprise, especially initiatives on public sector commissioning and procurement. We’ve built relationships with commissioners and policy makers across the public sector and published the popular guide “Social Enterprise and the Public Sector- a practical guide to law and policy”. We are offer information and technical assistance to commissioners on how their service can benefit from social enterprises.

SEEM believes there is a bright future for social enterprise as a business model that brings stakeholders together to create change, through selling innovative goods and services. The public services marketplace represents a massive opportunity to create social change and at the same time presents considerable challenges, barriers to entry and limitations to innovation.

We are looking for someone who can rise to these challenges and act as a broker- not just between today’s social enterprises and their public sector customers- but with the vision and determination to initiate new organisations and delivery models. Someone who can exploit the best of what social enterprise is and what it could be.

We are also at a crucial point in our development as an organisation and would welcome someone enterprising and capable of contributing to our strategy and business.
